Hmm...

Um... Sorry to break you bubble, but I don't think this is actually a competition. It's more of a casual challenge to see what Newgrounds audio artists can do.

I think this is pretty good. Honestly, I don't exactly hear the melody of this song, but the chord progression is there. Still, I think the choice of instruments is pretty decent. I like the violin in the backgrounds.

Mixing can be improved a bit. Seems like this song lacks in high frequencies. Adding some higher frequency instruments may help a bit. Some instruments also seem a bit muffled.

This song is great. I like the overall progression of this song too.

Thx Tehloy it's cool this review :3

And yeah it's not a competition but hey... you gotta try and beat other people right :P (Makes u better)

Anyway after my mistake I love you for your feedback. I'll try and make a more prevalent melody or motif to hold it along. And mixing too. THx!

Pretty good.

I always like piano and strings. They always complement each other.

This is pretty good, and the (slightly unrecognisable) intro really did the trick. I didn't realize I was listening to Carol of the Bells till I gotten to that part. Despite that, the transitions between the different sections were really good.

I think that overall, this song is great, except maybe you should have used a better quality piano soundfont. This one sounds a bit cheesy.

Hopefully with Christmas I'll be able to buy a premium software program since I seem to be getting better at this. FL Keys is alright when tweaked, but sometimes it just doesn't cut it anymore. LOL
Thank you very much for the review and score. ^__^

Not bad...

This is pretty good.

I just have to say, I like the electric guitar. Pretty nice melody you made! It's actually quite catchy. I also like the guitar solo.

I think the drums can be improved a bit. Seems like the drummer made some mistakes here and there. o.o

Overall, I think this song could be improved in quality. I'd recommend you record both instruments separately using different mikes. Using two mikes for an instrument might help get a stereo effect.

Also, I appreciate the effort of actually recording the song live. Most people here just click on little buttons that light up to make drum beats in their music program. It's semi-rare to find someone who records their own music.

Giving this a 7 for the effort. =)

GrazerMagic responds:

Thanks. As the drummer, I was mostly just following along with Jamie.

I don't know why,

but this one sounds rather 'asiany', rather than 'christmasy'. I think the melody follows a pentonic scale (but I can't confirm that)

But this is great! Like the song, but somehow, it doesn't really give a winter mood...

A pretty good attempt...

I really liked the first breakdown, the song totally became almost silent...
I just feel this doesn't have enough energy at some of the parts, maybe you can combine melodies and percussions together.

Mixing and mastering wise, I think this song is a bit too bass heavy. I think you should eq the bass a bit lower and add more treble....

Still, this is great, giving this a 5/5, 9/10.

Aw man....

You seriously have to make full versions of your songs! Another good melody from you, this really has potential for being a great song...
Not going for an in depth review for this, but this is pretty good anyway.

tomashcu responds:

:D thankss

Catchy.

I like this melody. Something that can be stuck in my head for a long time. =)
The progression is also rather unique, probably to fit the melody or something.

I think it can be improved by more variety of instruments, variations in the melody, and some stuff going on in the background.

And of course, by lengthening the song.

Still, this is pretty good. If the full version of this song comes out, I think it'll go into my mp3 player.

tomashcu responds:

hahaha YAY well its coming out if i get the time :(!

I like this song.

I can definitely hear the awesomeness in this. The way it progresses from a simple melody and builds up... it's perfect.
I liked the breakdown, pretty great.
So, this is an awesome song. And good luck for the RUNAGDM, btw. =)

Pretty good.

The melodies were pretty good, I kind of like them.

I just think the song itself was a bit soft. You should try to maximize the volume a bit by increasing the volume to the point where it still doesn't clip.

Some tips for piano composing, notes don't usually play one by one, all the notes played usually sustain up to the next chord change.

And volume levels change really subtly. Figure out when to make notes decrease in volume.

Well, hope this has helped. It's not much anyway.

Still, this song is pretty good.

Yea, this is pretty good.

I felt it was more sensible to review the original remix, but since this just came by the new submissions...

I think this got the bombed cause people only heard the first few seconds and thought it was an exact copy of the demo song that comes with FL studio 9 with vocals removed.

Well, it isn't. It's a remix.

Still, this is nice. Gonna check out the original version of your remix soon..

Badoosh responds:

Hey thanks man at least you have common sense about it.

Learning musician and animator. Go check out my music!
