Woah, this sounds great! It's just the really laid back atmosphere, ethnic instruments put together in a well thought out way that makes this song really great.

It's amazing! Almost something out of a fantasy world.

Impressive. There's so much visualisation in this, like straight out of a movie.

Really cool stuff here, totally didn't expect this on the newest submissions list. Just awesome!
Really well mixed, well thought out, and really cool synths. I love that bass!

I'm glad you liked it

Beautiful. ;__;

Another song that shows the best in this chord progression!

Trance + house? Trouse! Or hance. I don't know.
The thing I love most about this is the simplicity of this song, with simple melodies and a solid progression.

Insta-download. If a song can make me download it within the first 1 minute, it's seriously good. Achievement unlocked!

keosni391 responds:

"the simplicity" is just what i aimed for :P Glad you like it.

Happy new year ^_^

Hey there!

Yet again, really nice trancy feel to this song.
Pretty nice choice of instruments, and classic chord progression.

I'll just go straight into the critique. (which is the most fun to type)
I'd go with what I mentioned in the previous reviews, which is the bass. I'd say I do hear a bit of sidechaining (or just the limiter doing it's job) between the bass and kick, but it wasn't enough, and the kick loses it's punchiness into the bass. My suggestion? Put the bass into the offbeats, in between the kick drums. So the kick and bass won't play at the same time. Really direct way of preventing the bass from interfering from the kick.

I think the bass is kind of unneeded during the quiet part, when the pads play.. it is a bit too loud.

Also, melody wise, the rhythms of the melodies seem to center on each kick. Try to make melodies that have important notes between the kicks, (and probably put a stronger hihat in between the kicks too). The song focuses a lot on the downbeats (the beats where the kicks play), and not the upbeats (in between the kicks, to allow the person to 'bounce'). By giving equal focus to both the downbeats and upbeats, the song will have a much stronger beat to it.

This song is a bit repetitive, but it's a pretty good one. Nice choice of instruments, melodies, and ideas put together! Maybe it's time you upgraded your headphones/monitors/speakers/whatever audioequipment to something that can play the bass accurately (and so you can probably hear what you do). I'm assuming your system can't hear the bass well, or boosts it too much.

ReWired responds:

Yeah I'll have to go back and add some side-chaining in on the bass as well as strengthen the percs and add possibly add some sounds in or mess with the melody to fill in the upbeat and make the song less repetitive. I actually just upgraded my headset the day after I posted this song so I can hear exactly what you mean and I intend to fix it.
Thanks for the excellent review,
Happy Holidays,

Wow.

An epic tune. No idea if it's that chord progression (no idea why it's so good) or the synths.

Really well done. I can expect that the final version will be even better than it is already.
Loving it.

DjClyme responds:

why thank you! glad to know the Demo was enjoyed! :D

Really neat.

I love the composition in this one. You seriously have good ideas for trance music. Everything in this song, the pads, leads, progression, have really good melodies.

It's very relaxing, very trancey, very atmospheric.

What's that synth at 1.43? I love that pluck! 8D

This song just kind of lacks in one aspect: mixing. I can hear many synths in the same frequency range trying to compete with each other. Like the square synth at 0.58, feels like it's ducking in and out of the sidechained synth, and some others. What you can do is try to eq different synths to different frequencies, such that not too many instruments will take one frequency range. Especially the low mids, that seem to make every instrument sound fuller but really muddies up the song. Try to EQ every synth that is used, even if it's a preset.

Another thing that can be improved on is the kick. It sounds rather recessed into the background, and not that punchy. Probably can be fixed by EQing it. Try to boost the sub-bass and low bass, and a bit of treble and high mids. To make it stand out more, avoid letting other instruments take it's frequency ranges by cutting away the bass of all the other instruments. Many instruments have unneeded bass, probably as a result of reverb on them, that when added all together into a full song, can really take away from a kick.

Also, avoid adding reverb on low pitched instruments like the kick. This helps make the kick drum really punchy instead of distant. If you really want to, make it subtle. It's the bass frequencies you should watch the most, and make sure it is only dominated by the kick drum (and a select few other instruments, like the bass and possibly pads. Use parametric EQ 2 to see what frequencies each instrument has.

I'm not the expert mixer myself (self taught, and internet help), but I really hope these tips can help you in making music. This song is really good, I really love the melodies of this. Keep it up! And keep on making great music!

ReWired responds:

Wow thank you for the very in-depth review. I totally agree with all of your advice on mixing. I'm still very new to mixing and mastering so I'm very grateful for the specific tips you gave me. I'm definitely going to incorporate them into my future songs. That synth at 1:43 is a simple pluck chord with a low cutoff I made using Sylenth1.
I'm glad you liked this song and I hope you will review my future songs,

Wow.

Nice song! Sounds like a mix of techno, trance, dance and dubstep! All my favourite genres.

I think the mixing came out really well. I couldn't hear any mistakes, all the frequency ranges were well mixed.

Seriously a good song. I'm downloading this!

keosni391 responds:

Thanks man^^

Woah.

Time based review.

0.05 : Hmm... minimalist. That pluck sound is great! Gives a starting mood that's mysterious.

0.39: Buildup!

0.53: In the beat now! Very catchy, I can't pause this song even if a zombie apocalypse has occured... Must continue!!

1.16: Vocals, I believe are from MLP. Really strong progression. The vocals really fit, and the song has this sudden dark mood.

1.57: Must... listen... too catchy...

2.40: That break!

2.43: Melodic part. That chilling pluck is really fitting that mood. Almost like a trance song after it's buildup. Epic, and I'd really want to dance.

3.27: Repetition of the same melody does really help enforce a tight, confined mood, especially with such a synth. Just genius, really fits.

4.10: Breakdown of some sort? I can hear a conclusion coming...

Really, 17 days?? That's seriously a long time.
You've seriously improved A LOT since I first discovered you and your music on newgrounds. Though your music has become MLP themed, I'm still not stopping listening to your tracks.

Keep on making music! :D Know that you have another fan. :)
